Arkansas State University-Beebe

What happens after orientation?

Knowing your major is very helpful, but sometimes you might not be sure. What do I want to study? What kind of job do I want? These are great questions to ask, and our Career Counselor in the Student Center can help.

So, knowing your major before an orientation, while helpful, is not necessary. But, if you are "leaning" toward an area, you should start out meeting with an advisor in that area.

After orientation, you are assigned to an Ambassador (student leader) by your major (your field of study). The Ambassadors lead you to the various divisions, where you are assigned an advisor.

During the summer, not all advisors are available. However, on each orientation day, there are representatives from each division to help you.  So, you may not be able to meet your appointed advisor that day, but you will be provided the contact information. We hope you will visit your assigned advisor during the first few weeks of school.

Then, the representing advisors will answer any questions and concerns you may have.  They will also review your transcript and placement scores to recommend the best possible classes for you.

At that time, we will help you register for your classes on CampusConnect, building a schedule. Afterwards, you will need to visit the Business Office to make payment arrangements. You may also need to visit with Financial Aid and/or scholarship representatives.

Finally, you may want to visit the Bookstore, or you may decide to walk around campus to find your classrooms. The Student Ambassadors are also available to take you on a tour of the campus.

So, are you ready to come to ASU-Beebe? We hope so!
